 Door Operation

 Running Locally

To run locally just run DOORNAME.EXE with the parameter SETUP to create
a DOORNAME.CFG file, (ie. DOORNAME SETUP). Then to run type:

                               DOORNAME LOCAL

at the dos prompt. The game will then execute in local mode using the sysop
name supplied in the DOORNAME.CFG file as the player.

NOTE: Only use the LOCAL parameter to run the door from the DOS command
line. Never use the LOCAL parameter in a batch file called by the
Bulletin Board System. This parameter is merely here to allow you
a quick look at the door before installation to your BBS.

 Running On BBS For Evaluation

This and all JNS Software Door Games operate for 30 days from the time of
installation. At this time when ran it will send a message that the game is
expired and return the caller to the BBS. See Features below for a listing
of features not available during the evaluation. The game will stop keeping
and reset scores after 21 days. The game can continue uninterrupted by
purchasing a registered key before the 21 day period is up.

 Running as A Registered Door

Running as a registered door requires a registered key file. See below for
registration information. The registered version of this door enables the
Make-Up and Play Ahead Features. Without a registered KEY file these great
features stay dormant. See Features for more information. Upon registering
you will receive a registered KEY file which will not expire.

Also, as a registered door the program enables a built-in editor that
will allow you to edit the doors .DAT file. This is handy for those times
when a user may be disconnected from the BBS prematurely while playing, and
you will be able to edit that users game record to allow them to continue
or replay the games for that day.

                      USAGE: DOORNAME EDIT or ??_EDIT

 Command Line Parameters

COMMAND Line Parameters: SETUP LOCAL ALIAS FOSSIL EDIT SPLIT

This door has several command line parameters listed above. Below is
    description for usage:

SETUP - Run's the door games Setup program.

LOCAL - Used in conjunction with DOORNAME.CFG LOCAL for executing
the door in local only mode. For use from the DOS prompt
only. Never use LOCAL in a BBS batch file.

ALIAS - Cause's the door to use Alias names on BBS System's
which support the DOOR.SYS drop file.

FOSSIL - Cause's the door to use a previously installed fossil.

EDIT - Execute's the games Player Data file (.DAT) editor. The
editor will display help for each option during execution.
Please follow those instuctions when editing player's data.

SPLIT - Just a toy. This will cause the game to split the opening
                  registration screen from the display.

In some cases more than one option will be needed such a case would be
when using a fossil and also using alias names. The command line to execute
the game would look like this:

                           DOORNAME.EXE FOSSIL ALIAS

Order of the option does not matter.

Notes Of Interest & Problem Solvers

This game does not require any monitoring program for dropped carrier. It
automatically detects this and exits back to the BBS.

This door DOES NOT require any runtime modules to run. It will run as-is
without any aid from outside utilities.

JNS Software has several card games as doors. And a particular problem
shows up that can be controlled by the remote user. Some Terminal programs
have a default setting of ON for Compu-Serve B file transfers. If this is
on, the Terminal Program will strip the ASCII Code 3, which is a CLUB
character used on the card. Have your users set this to OFF if CLUBS fail
  to appear on the cards.

 JNSCHAMP Champ File Editor

JNSCHAMP.EXE is a champion data editor. It will allow editing of the Last
Months Champion name and score and the All Time Champion name and score. It's
not a flashy program but it does work. Just execute the program without any
command line parameters and it will instuct you on what to do. This program
is mainly intended to help when updating or if you loose a .CHP file do to
hard disk trouble. You can always read the last written bulletin for the
current information of the file if the game is able to create one.
